F355: an "affordable" supercar?

Saw one of these in the flesh yesterday. In a word, stunning- as Ferraris in the wild are wont to be. Pictures absolutely do not do the car justice. Not even close. We have always loved this design, and it has aged exceptionally well, like a fine wine. Quite frankly, in terms of modern Pininfarina designs, we think it may have been a high water mark in this particular branch of the family tree (not counting the early Dinos).

Autotrader suggests that one can be had in the mid-40s through low-50s on the low end, although that doesn’t even begin to tell us the full story. Though not quite apples-to-apples, Edmunds’ Inside Line gives us a taste of what older Ferrari ownership is like.

“Affordable” and “Ferrari” used in the same sentence is, obviously, a laughing matter. But those in the market for, say, a C4S 993 911, may want to get a broad lay of the land to see what else their hard-earned lucre can buy them. An F355, for instance.
